PEMB foundation and pool structural engineering
Foundation designs for pre-engineered metal buildings and structural designs for swimming pools, prepared from the building supplier's reactions, pool layout and site soils. Every anchor bolt, footing and reinforcing bar is detailed for permit and construction.

A metal building is only as sound as the foundation under it
AM designs PEMB foundations from the supplier's actual column reactions, and pool shells from the actual soil and water loads.
A foundation you have to guess at
What a generic detail leaves open
? Were the footings sized for the supplier's uplift and thrust reactions?
? Do the anchor bolts match the base plate drawings?
? Is the pool shell designed for empty-pool soil pressure?
? Which soil bearing value was assumed?
? Who checked the pool wall where it meets the deck or a retaining wall?
A design you can check
What AM Engineering delivers
✓ Footings designed from the supplier's column reactions
✓ Anchor bolt layout matched to the metal building drawings
✓ Pool shell reinforcement sized for soil, water and surcharge loads
✓ Soil values and assumptions stated on the drawings
✓ Calculations that match the drawing set
What we design →
Six specialty scopes for metal buildings and pools
From the slab under a steel building to the shell of an in-ground pool.
PEMB foundations
Spread footings, piers and grade beams designed for column reactions, uplift and lateral thrust.
Anchor bolt plans
Anchor bolt layouts, embedment and projection matched to the building supplier's base plates.
Slabs and hairpins
Slab on grade design with hairpins or tie rods to resist frame thrust where required.
In-ground pools
Concrete and shotcrete pool shells with wall and floor reinforcement detailed.
Pool walls and beams
Bond beams, raised walls, spas and steps designed with the shell.
Pool site conditions
Designs for sloped sites, nearby foundations, retaining walls and high water tables. [Confirm scope]
How it works →
From reactions to a checked foundation in five steps
Every PEMB and pool assignment follows the same review path.
1
Send your files
Metal building reaction drawings or pool layout, site address and geotechnical report.
2
We confirm criteria
Code edition, soil values, frost depth, wind and seismic loads, and deliverables.
3
We design
Footings, anchor bolts, slabs and pool shell reinforcement are calculated and drafted.
4
We check
Reactions, bolt layouts and reinforcement are checked against the supplier and pool drawings.
5
You receive the package
Foundation or pool structural drawings and calculations. [Confirm PE stamp]
Supplier revisions
When the building supplier revises reactions or the pool layout changes, the design is updated with a record of what changed.
Accepted inputs
Metal building reaction and anchor bolt drawings, pool plans, surveys and geotechnical reports.
What you receive →
What every PEMB and pool package includes
Drawings and calculations ready for permit submission and for the concrete contractor.
The foundation or pool package
✓ Foundation plan with footing and pier schedule
✓ Anchor bolt plan matched to the building supplier
✓ Pool shell plan, sections and reinforcement details
✓ General notes with soil values and design criteria
✓ Structural calculations report
Built from supplier data
Column reactions and base plate details come from your metal building supplier's drawings.
Soils stated
Bearing values and assumptions are written on the drawings for the reviewer.
Delivery format [To confirm]
Add file formats here (for example PDF sheets, DWG files, calculation report).
See a sample foundation set
Show buyers a redacted PEMB or pool sample before they send plans. [Add sample file]

Why AM Engineering →
Built around the supplier's real numbers
Seven habits that run through every PEMB and pool package.
Real reactions
Footings are designed from the supplier's column reactions, not a generic rule of thumb
Bolts that match
Anchor bolt layouts are checked against the metal building base plate drawings
Thrust resisted
Frame thrust is resisted with hairpins, tie rods or footings, and the method is shown
Empty pool checked
Pool walls are designed for soil pressure with the pool empty, not only full
Soils on the sheets
Bearing values and assumptions are written on the drawings
Assumptions on record
Missing supplier or soil data is listed as a stated assumption
Revision record
Supplier changes are tracked so the foundation always matches the current building
FAQ →
Reactions, soils, stamps and turnaround.
What do you need from the metal building supplier?
The reaction drawings with column loads and the anchor bolt or base plate drawings.
Do you design the metal building itself?
No. The building supplier engineers the steel frame. AM designs the foundation that supports it.
Do I need a geotechnical report?
It is recommended. Without one, presumptive soil values are used and listed as an assumption.
Can you design a pool on a slope or near a house?
Yes. Surcharge from nearby foundations and sloped ground is included in the design.
Do you stamp the drawings? [To confirm]
Add the states where AM's engineers hold a PE license.
How long does a PEMB foundation design take? [To confirm]
Add the typical turnaround for PEMB and pool projects.
How is this priced? [To confirm]
Add the pricing basis, for example a fixed fee per building or per pool.
